Hear Ye, Hear Ye! The Prince Is Giving a Ball!

Every production has its moments of anticipation – moments when the words and melodies begin to move, to breathe, to dance. For Tupelo Community Theatre’s enchanting journey with Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella, this week we stepped quite literally into motion.

The cast stepped onto the Lyric Theatre stage for the first time since their auditions on Sunday as Choreographer Thomas Roper (who also plays Jean-Michel) began weaving choreography for The Prince Is Giving A Ball into the fabric of our magical story. Monday brought a shift of scenery, as we transferred our rehearsals back to the intimate Off Broadway space.

At TOB, the cast was measured for their costumes as the crew began planning out the visual aesthetics. Afterwards, my magical assistant, Kevin Steele began doing one-on-one introduction videos of the cast members – Ella and Topher introductions coming Friday!

Coming Soon - Sneak Peak: The Prince Is Giving A Ball

The main focus of the evening, however, was digging deeper into the choreography, refining the joyous chaos of a royal announcement into fluid, captivating dance sequences.

From the choreographed twirls and leaps to the fun poses, our cast members are breathing life into this joyous production. The magic of the scene lies not only in its choreography but also in the shared excitement and anticipation visible on every smiling face. It’s simply magical!

Soon enough, we shall all gather at the royal celebration – a ball so magnificent it might just change the course of destiny itself. Check back tomorrow for a special sneak peek video!

Up Next - Meet The Cast

Stay tuned, dear friends, as our story continues to unfold. Starting on Friday, I will start sprinkling introduction videos for our wonderful cast into these magical updates.

Until then – mark your calendars, freshen your fancy clothes, and ready your dancing shoes; the prince’s royal invitation awaits!
